Here's a great family portrait by my daughter Liz. She's the one floating away from the rest of the family, there's probably some deep stuff going on there… but, cute drawing! My family!

more Seabrook pages

I'm inking pages set in the middle east today. Seabrook lived with the Bedouin for several years, the source of his first book, Adventures in Arabia. Lot's of Kifeyahs and too many damn horses (not shown). Got a bit of dry brush going on there. I rarely use that, but it's a new year. Note the graphite and ink-smeared hand of a messy artist.

sinclair lewis and william seabrook

William Seabrook was great friends with Sinclair Lewis. This portrait of Lewis from a scene of them together in my biography of Seabrook is less cartoony than you might think. Lewis was a strange-looking man.

the re-drawing begins…

after completing about 48 pages of this new Seabrook biography, I've started going over and redrawing pages and certain scenes. It always happens that you get more in tune with the characters and innevitably have to return and correct uncertain beginnings. I actually like the new one a lot.

I woke up this morning and drew this.

I drew a boat!

I guess doing historical fiction means you sometimes spend most of a day drawing a boat.
